Pregnancy Insomnia

I woke up at 1:13am to go to the bathroom.
It is now 3:56am.

Obviously, I'm still awake.

I'm really, really hot.
I'm really, really big.
I'm really, really feeling the heart burn.
I'm bloated.

I probably shouldn't have eaten that bacon cheeseburger for dinner.
Or that basket of fries.
Or the strawberry shortcake dessert.

On the bright side. At least I'm just bloated, not "really, really bloated." But, I have a bad feeling the "really, really bloated" phase is just around the corner. My feet feel more and more like over-filled water ballons every day.

Dave will be happy to know that while I lay in bed for over an hour trying to get back to sleep, I practiced my labor breathing techniques. I thought for sure that would put me to sleep. No dice. And just so you know, it really didn't make the "uncomfortable lying in bed awake thing" any better. It also didn't make me feel less hot. Or less bloated.

So how exactly is it going to help with the most excruciating pain ever? Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

I wish there was a conference talk I could listen to on my ipod. Nothing lulls me to sleep quite like a conference talk...

I've NEVER understood this! Why o why when you need sleep the most- during pregnancy - can you NOT sleep? ...and I don't want to hear you're preparing your body to get up in the night when the baby comes - I say "boo hiss" to that notion. I really hope you get some sleep soon.

Oh Carrie! I totally feel for you... I remember that stupid sleep problem all too well. Man I could go for a bacon cheeseburger about now.

Oh, the lack of sleep has only just begun! I think one of the biggest reliefs after having a baby, (besides not being so fat where you can't tie your own shoes) is that the heart burn goes away. Then those bacon cheese burgers and just good and don't stay with you all night! Good luck!It will be here before you know it. Well, I know no pregnant woman wants to hear that...sorry!
And happy late Birthday!!

Just think, it could have been worse if you would have topped the strawberry shortcake with a piece of baklava from the Israeli restaurant.

I guess I'm just so surprised that the cake would have exacerbated your problem. It only has 1 LB OF PURE BUTTER, SOUR CREAM, SUGAR, 6 EGGS, VANILLA, AND A LITTLE FLOUR. It is practically fat free.

i am so, so sorry. it is the worst. no one knows more than me!!! :)

it will all be over soon. even though you have a little peep waking you up in the night, at least when you lay back down you can sleep on your stomach. and yes, no heartburn. it's so fabulous when the baby is out!
