Pergola?

What the heck is a pergola anyway? When Dave told me he wanted to build a big wooden structure for our 2 square inches of back lawn I thought he was crazy. I mean what is next? Are we going to try to squeeze a lap pool in back there? Or a mini tramp? You know it is only a matter of time before some of those little plastic gnomes try to sneak in during the night, and set up camp in our back yard.

But per normal, he was right and I was wrong. I think the barn (whatever you want to call it) turned out great. You never know what Dave is going to accomplish in a weekend. And if you are wondering why I didn't put down the camera to help him lift that heavy board...it is b/c the board wasn't that heavy. Dave is always looking for an opportunity to flex.

Thank you Sally. It was some hard work, but it turned out great.

Sally I will have to agree with you. It looks great. And the pergola isn't to shabby either.

Jane you and Sally are going to make Carrie jealous. Thank you for the comments though.

Dave, that's EXACTLY what we want (only rectangular) along one side of our patio. We've been talking about building one for 3 years, and that's about as far as we've got. Are there instructions somewhere for building one of these? A pergola website?
Maybe after Denham Bros. Landscaping has finished recuing the garden next door they could head over here for some pergola building.

Wow! Is he for hire? He looks so strong too. :) That looks great! You guys are always accomplishing all kinds of things in one weekend... painting, remodeling, building things.

I assure you Christina that the painting of our house didn't take one weekend. Need I remind you that we started that project last October and finished in June? When we did our kitchen we were eating Chipotle for 6 months. Although I like the idea that I finish projects quickly. Thanks.

Tania - I looked for plans for a pergola on the web, found some, but didn't use them. I just looked at a picture and went from there. If you already have a cement patio it should be easy. I may be available for a consultation after I nurse you poor neighbor's grass/yard back to health.

we didn't eat exclusively at chipotle for 6 months. remember Christina fed us about once a week...

Christina have you been hanging out with "sally" and "jane" again?

sounds like we're getting lots of good projects lined up for new york. why don't you guys continue to spread the word out there? then Dave can quit his job, and do NYC landscaping full time.

he already has his work exit strategy planned...he just needs a new venture so he can execute it. i think the winner was pretending he had never heard of his company, or his boss when they call to ask why he hasn't been at work for a week.

I think I only fed you guys twice in 6 months... doesn't quite add up to once a week. You're too nice! Anyone want to hire me for something out in NYC? I'm thinking I need a shopping trip out there soon. :)

Maybe we can take you along as an executive assistant. You know the kind that goes to a broadway show with me while Dave sweats in the yard.

Dave, as you know we need a new deck. We tried to solicite Chris to help us, but he moved to Broomfield to avoid the task. Now you are our only hope! We'll feed you (and Carrie) well, keep you laughing, and give you some gardening tips. Now what could be better??? We love your pergola.
