One Day Overdue

Well, my due date came and passed with no sign of the baby. I can't say I'm surprised. S was 12 days overdue, and C was 9. I should be happy if this one comes out 5-6 days late. I went to the midwife yesterday, and she informed me I'm barely effaced and doubts I'll have the baby this weekend. GREAT! Great, great, great. I'm so sick of being pregnant I could scream. Oh well. At least the weather is nice.

I was really hoping for a May 5th baby. What could be better than celebrating your b-day every year alongside Mexican Independence? We could have great food and a pinata for every b-day from here on out. And maybe we could name the baby Juan.

Anyone got a fool-proof way to induce labor?

i wish! with abe i shopped like crazy--it was a few days before Christmas. we spent a ton of money--but sure enough--it threw me into labor.
on the other hand--with mattie i started labor at 32 weeks and was in the hospital 5 times to make him stop! i had to go on bed rest (yuck!). 5 weeks later (contractions every 2 1/2 minutes the whole 5 weeks) my water broke. when i got to the hospital--no contractions whatsoever! luckily he came 3 hours later.
the moral of my long story is--good luck--they come on their own stubborn time!

How about the desire to stay pregnant? I'm sure that would work

Just an FYI-
A common misconception is that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 16th.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of Mexican forces led by General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguin over the French occupational forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

So if you can hold out until 9/16 your kid may share Mexico's independence.

I dug up a stump in my backyard once. I went into labor about 5 hours later.

I'm telling you rasberry leaf tea and eggplant. It works. Have you tried it yet. Good luck!

dave cracks me up. he is really into "the true meaning" of cinco de mayo. when i read this i thought to myself "sara is going to get in trouble for saying it is their independence day..." and suddenly, a post from dave. what a character.

i can't believe may 5th isn't actually mexican independence day. i feel as if i've been living a lie. A LIE! who told me that? probably the same idiot who told me that phones are required by law to make that clicking noise.

dave, i would be such a fool if you weren't in my life to set me straight on things.

there is no chance i can hold out until sept. 16th!!!

Oh, Sara. There are so many things I heard, and I'm sure you have heard them, too. From lots of sex to jumping up and down. Spicy food. Castor oil. The list goes on.

Just take advantage of your right to complain and be completely miserable.

And come over tomorrow for some homemade ice cream. I'm serious.
