VOTE!

All right kids. I've broken down and made an appointment to get my hair cut.

What? But it's only been six months since my last one! I know. Time flies.

I'd post a current photo, but I don't have any. Just picture a mass of split-ended hair, curling crazily everywhere, frizz frizz and more frizz. It's all quite out of hand which is probably why it ends up in a pony tail about 20 second after I'm out of the shower.

As per usual, I've selected a variety of different looks I like, most of them worn by Rachel Bilson. Every time I take a picture of her into a hair stylist, we have identical conversations. They always go like this:

"This is the hair cut I want."

"Oh yeah, this is super cute. Although Rachel Bilson has STRAIGHT hair, and you actually have quite CURLY hair."

"I know it looks like she has straight hair, but there was this one episode of the OC where it's raining, and you can see that actually, her hair is kind of curly! Just like mine!"

"Okay, but she also probably has a professional hair stylist that does her hair every time she's in a movie, or has her picture taken. See where I'm going with this, Sara?"

"Well, can't you just cut it so that it looks like that for today? I really really want to look like (but I'm thinking BE) Rachel Bilson."

And the stylist sighs and says, "Look... these are scissors, not a magic wand."

So... I know what you're thinking. But basically I always like her hair, and yes, I want to look like her. So the real issue here is: Bangs vs. No Bangs.

Travis says No Bangs.

What's your vote, dear readers? I'm so very tempted to get them again, but I will probably regret it after I've straightened them for the 10th time on a rainy day.

Here are your images. Which do you like best (for me)?

the top one and with enough bumble and bumble thickening spray you'll look super straight! I just got my hair cut tonight and my guy uses so so much of that stuff and then I feel like I could go to Tampa or get rained on and be fine! I say you try a little red though too and yeah no bangs but shorter chin length by your face?

sara, i LOVE you with blunt bangs. in fact, last time around it was your bangs that made me consider giving my own bangs another try. huge pain? yes, but so so great. i say do it while they are still fun and fashionable. . .
say hi to anna for me, i am way overdue for a visit. . .

As you know, I covet your hair. Thick, wavy, dark. It's everything my hair is not. Actually it is dark, (now) but only because I paid to have it made that way. Sigh.
Oh, but we're not talking about MY hair, are we?
Ok. Focus.
I really like picture #1, but I just don't see you possessing the guts to "butt-cut" your hair everyday. It looks great in pictures of 19 year old celebrities, but honestly, are you really going to have the discipline to do that every day?
THEREFORE, my vote is photo #2. I think a light, tapered bang would look great. It can be swept away to make it look like NO bangs, or you can play it up. I like the texture of the hair too...it's got a lot of movement, which I think would work great for your hair. The side part is nice too.
PS. if you ever decide to donate your hair to "locks of love", let me know first. I know a certain person who would pay handsomely for a wig made from SARA HAIR.

The bangs thing is always tempting.. especially when you see them all over the place on the magazines (you know which magazines I mean).

But I vote no. I think it always makes my face look chubbier than it is and they are just too high maintenance for me (someone who also has naturally wavy/sometimes frizzy hair).

If we had perfectly straight hair could we pull it off? Probably. But we don't.

I am now going to email you a photo of me at 16 so you can see why bangs can be a mistake. (Those bangs were inspired by a George Michael video starring Linda Evangelista.. I'm sure if I get cute super short bangs I will look just like her, right? No.)

I LOVED your hair when Liz cut it with bangs a while ago. It seems you are never happy with anyone but Liz. Are you sure you don't want to wait until you come to Colo.?

I totally understand, I haven't cut my hair since August, and I have a similar obsession with Rachel. She's just so tiny and adorable. I just want to put her in my pocket! anyway, I like the top one alot, mostly because I recently have tried the middle part. I like bangs, but honestly they're just too much maintenance. Happy hair cutting!

I vote for the top picture - those layers would look great curly also.

No bangs.

I really, really, really need a haircut. I haven't gotten one in almost a year.

Which picture should I do? (a shorter version of course).

Here's my take on bangs--

DON'T GET THEM.

I loved mine at first, but now I wish I'd never done it. They are definitely the trend (as my super-hip hair guys said), but you'll be sad when summer comes.

Aw. Whatever you do will be cute. Your hair is perfect and you are darling. You can't lose.

I agree with Travis. It seems a lot of girls get bit by the experimentation bug and want to get squirly with their hair. Your pony tail is tried and true. Bangs are lame. My wife had this same conversation with me last night about extensions, I had to shoot that one down fast. Just be yourself. Bangs suck.

sara, you always look amazing. You can't go wrong either way. It might be a fun change to get bangs and then hopefully they'll start to grow out by the time you get sick of them. It's not like decided to shave your head or not. Bangs don't last forever.

I think maybe the second one, but depends on your curls. I can't remember, are they really tight? If so, go for number one because then you wont have any straightening pressure. Personally, I would not do the chunky front bangs. You probably already cut your hair anyway. I have bangs right now and I am wondering if I am looking Utahish.
